The Lodge Pledge

How I pick.

I only list what I'd buy. Some links pay me a commission. That never decides a pick. Brands can send me things to test; they can't buy a spot. If it was sent, it says so.

What makes the list

Every pick has to pass four questions. If the answer to any of them is no, it stays off the site.

Does it earn its price? At $20 or $2,000, it has to be the smart buy at that level.
Does it hold up? Real use, real trips, not an unboxing.
Does it look right? Good design is part of the job, not a bonus.
Would I give it to a friend? The final test, and the one that matters most.
II

Three ways in

Every need gets an Entry, an Elevated and a Splurge pick. Same taste filter at each price, so nobody has to spend more than they want to get something good.

III

The labels

Every pick tells you how it got here.

I carry this. I bought it with my own money and use it.
Sent to test. A brand sent it. It went through the same four questions.
Partner. A paid placement, always labeled and kept separate from the picks.
IV

When brands send things

I test it on my own time. If it makes the cut, it runs with a Sent to test label. If it doesn't, I tell the brand privately, and it doesn't run. No brand sees a review before you do.

V

What I won't cover

Knockoffs, drop-shipped junk, anything I wouldn't hand to a friend. And no brand can pay to change a pick, a tier or a word.

VI

How the Lodge makes money

Affiliate commissions when you buy through a link, at no extra cost to you. Occasionally a clearly labeled partner placement. That money keeps the Lodge running. It never picks the gear.

Think I got one wrong?

Tell me. If a pick stops earning its spot, it comes off, and I'll say why.
